Sleep Apnea

Help with sleep apnea at Colfax Dental

Sleep Apnea is a disorder that consists of an abnormal amount of shallow breathing or pauses in breathing during sleep. A common side effect is loud snoring, but choking or snorting can also result in diminished breathing as well. This disorder leaves it’s patient feeling tired during the day due to their lack of sleep during sleepless nights.

There are two different types of sleep apnea: Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Central Sleep Apnea(CSA). OSA is the most common form and happens when airflow is blocked, interrupting airflow. CSA happens when regular unconscious breathing simply stops due to neurological controls that fail to signal to inhale. It is possible to be affected by a combination of the two different types of sleep apnea.
