Tooth extractions may be a necessary procedure for a variety of reasons including tooth decay, periodontal disease, or trauma. There are times when tooth decay is so severe, the whole tooth cannot be saved and needs to be extracted. Occasionally in orthodontics, teeth may need to be removed due to overcrowding of the teeth, creating space for the other teeth to be straightened.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
A fairly common procedure, wisdom teeth removal involves extracting wisdom teeth that may be impacted. Impacted wisdom teeth are ones that are either stuck or unable to grow in normally, often causing recurrent infections of the gum. Wisdom teeth removal can involve removing one tooth or all four wisdom teeth at once depending on each patient’s specific case.
